Agutayan White Island is among the 7,641 islands in the Philippine archipelago. A beautiful sandbar that is similar to Camiguin’s white Island but the sand is not as fine and white. This is a quick destination I can recommend if you live nearby Cagayan de Oro City which is almost an hour travel. The white island is arguably one of the best places I have ever visited in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental aside from Sagpulon Falls.
THINGS TO BRING:
Agutayan White Island don’t have vegetation, no shade and it is very hot , so I suggest to bring the following to protect you from the heat of the sun:
1. Big Umbrella
2. Portable Tables
3. Sun block
4. Food and Water
6. Snorkel gears (If you want an underwater activities)
7. Garbage bag
I advice to visit the island early in the morning like around 5am to 6am.
Overnight stay is not allowed in the Island. You can bring your food with no corkage fee and make sure to practice LNT policy (Leave no Trace)
HOW TO GET THERE:
From Cagayan de Oro, ride a bus bound for Butuan, Balingoan, Gingoog and etc. at Agora Bus Terminal. It takes almost an hour drive from the city. Tell the driver to drop you off at the Brgy. Jampason, Jasaan. You will notice the gym at Brgy. Hall as their landmark. From the jump off, you can hire motorized boat going to the island. Travel time takes 20-25 minutes.
Fare from Cagayan de Oro – 30.00 – 40.00 pesos
Environmental Fee – 50.00 pesos
Motorized boat – 1800.00 (Good for 6 persons only)
