Tinuy-an Falls is one of the famous travel destinations in Surigao del Sur. It is located in Barangay Borboanan, Bislig City, dubbed by many people as the little Niagara in the Philippines.  The multi-level waterfalls having 95 meters wide and 55 meters (180 ft) high which is considered to be the widest among the waterfalls in the country.

The Tinuy-an waterfall is getting popular in the Philippine tourism as many local and foreign travellers visited the place to witness and explore its scenic beauty. It has now been developed by the government as they provided stores, added some cottages and different fun activities.

Things you can do in Tinuy-an Falls:

You can rent their “Balsa” or Bamboo raft which is tied by the rope to get you up-close in the waterfalls and experience water massage in 30 minutes to 1 hour. They will allow a maximum of 10 persons that will cost you 150 pesos. If you want unlimited pictures, you can rent their water proof camera that costs 250 pesos.

Aside from that you can also get a chance to explore the second level of the falls which you need to hike at their steep stairs having at least 95 steps estimated to reach the top. Be careful because some parts of the stairs were ruined and slippery. Don’t worry! As you will be accompanied by the guides and make sure you prepare to give them a small tip.

The place is perfect for picture taking especially when you’re in the tip of the waterfalls which you will be able to see the overlooking view. You can also take a shower from their many waterfalls and mini pools. I’m not sure if they will allow you to jump from the second upper level of the falls. I don’t think if safe so much better not to try it to avoid accident.

How to get there?

It takes almost 30-45 minutes to reach the Tinuy-an Falls with 15 kilometres away from the city proper.
You can hire a private van or motorcycle (habal-habal). The fare for one-way in Habal-habal is 200-250 pesos, but I prefer to hire a private van because some of their roads are not yet paved and very dusty.

If by plane from Manila or Cebu, you may take a flight to Butuan City, Surigao Del Norte or Davao City and find a bus which is bound for Mangagoy. The travelling time from Butuan City to Mangagoy takes 5 hours.
From Hinatuan to Mangagoy – You may take a bus ride from Hinatuan bus terminal or hire a van and it takes only 1 hour and 30 minute travel time around 55-60 pesos for the fare.

Where to Stay?

My apology guys for not asking any accommodations since we availed our tour from the package tour agency and we already had a place to stay in Mc Arthur’s Place at San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. But I think they have a lot of cheap hotels and lodging to stay in Bislig. I found a link from another travel blogger. Please refer to this link here. I hope this would help.
