The magnificent Islands in Britania of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur

hagonoy island 5

San Agustin is one of the spectacular Municipalities in Surigao Del Sur favoured with 24 breath-taking Islands and Islets with white sandbar beaches, scattered around Lianga Bay facing the Pacific Ocean. They called it Britania Group of Islands.

The San Agustin’s Britania is very similar with “Hundred Islands” in Pangasinan. What I like is that most of their islands are turtle like shape and known for its stunning crystalizing blue and green water and sugary sand.

Our Itinerary for Island hopping in Britania Islands includes four Islands but we managed only three Islands as we need to go back for lunch and get ready to pack up for going home to Cagayan de Oro.

But these three Islands amazed me and filled me with joy and beautiful memories.

Naked Island

It reminds me of White Island in Camiguin with no vegetation, unoccupied and much wider. It doesn’t mean you need to be naked to go there it just like there’s nothing to it in the island. One of the coolest beaches I’ve ever seen with only few rocks and it’s really perfect for photo-shoot, sun bathing and for those who just love to unwind with no entrance fee. It takes 30 mins to reach the floating white island from Mc Arthur Place resort.

When we went here the weather is sometimes gloomy and sunny

Unlimited jump shot! hahaha

Hagonoy Island

They called it a pear-shaped Island. The top portion of the beach is surrounded with big flat rocks then has a few coconuts that serve as sun’s protector. I admire how simple the island is with its nice view which is very romantic and unwinding especially when setting on the beach while watching the waves.
This is a perfect place for picnic with family and friends. Here you will find different “pasalubong” and affordable souvenirs.
We spent here almost an hour in swimming and taking pictures.

Boslon Island

The last Island we visited after Hagonoy Island. It is the largest among the group. It has a standing cross and mini grotto from the side of the island and the Cave behind the Golden Virgin Mary. The place is also perfect for photo shoot. That time was low tide so we were able to pass through the other islet which is connected with Boslon Island.

How to get there?

It takes only 2 hours to travel from Mangahoy to San Agustin via Grandia Ace Van. We went first to Tinuy-an Falls and International Doll House before heading to Britania Group of Island.

Where to stay?

I have only one perfect place  that I can recommend you guys to stay since we availed promo from Travel 360 Travel and Tours. Actually, the place was good. The staffs are very accommodating and friendly.  The rooms are basic and affordable around 2000 for a group of 8 with free breakfast. The foods are great especially “Sinigang”.
