My curiosity in Oklahoma Island brought me to the province of Misamis Occidental. Actually, my father has been telling me the great places in Misamis Occidental since last year, especially the Oklahoma Island but was not able to travel due to my hectic schedules. So when I finally got my free time I asked my father if we could go together this weekend and plan out for the things to do in Oklahoma Island.
He immediately contacted his friends at Baliangao to make sure that we have a good place to stay once we arrived. I also did a research about different must-visit places in Misamis Occidental to make sure that we will able to spend the whole day exploring different unknown and breath-taking places in the province.
It took us almost 7 hours travelling from Cagayan de Oro to reach the Municipality of Baliangao, Misamis Occidental. We arrived by 8:40 in the morning at my uncle’s place. Honestly, travelling to Misamis Occidental may be exhausting one but we feel more energized when we met the relatives of my uncle who gave us a warm welcome. We are so very thankful and really appreciate their hospitality, the way they treated us. We really felt like home.
We took our breakfast first before heading to Oklahoma Island. We really enjoyed our foods. The food was presented like a feast includes grilled fish “Kitong”, “Kinilaw” Clam shell soup and fried “danggit”. I think province of Misamis Occidental is known to be as one of the seafood islands in the Philippines because of its abundance.
After taking our breakfast, we proceeded to the port area of Rafi’s private resort where the boat is waiting that will take us to Sitio Cabgan. This is few meters away from my uncle’s place so we need to ride tricycle to reach the port. It takes 10 to 15 minutes boat ride to reach Sitio Cabgan. You will surely enjoy sightseeing the other breath-taking islets while riding the boat.
The Island of Oklahoma really catches my attention. The jaw-dropping Islands and islets, with its great atmosphere, stunning white sand beach, crystal clear waters, fabulous mangroves makes me fall in love in the island in one day.
I would recommend this as a perfect summer getaway for the family and friends to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Here, you can do anything you want like photo shoot, kayaking, snorkelling, picnic, trekking and lounging by the beach.
It was very memorable and priceless day tour in Oklahoma Island. If given me a chance to stay here, I would surely grab the opportunity. This is very safe place and quite I’m sure you can meditate and spend more quality time for yourself.
After two hours staying and sightseeing in the place we headed towards Naburos Island, our next destination.
